Set up ShareSpeak for a Riverside recording
1. Install ShareSpeak
Buy a license, then download ShareSpeak for Mac or for Windows and paste your key. Hosts and guests install it on their own computers; nothing changes in Riverside.
2. Save the episode script
Paste your intro, questions and ad reads into the Scripts Library, one entry per episode or guest, with a live word count and speaking-time estimate.
3. Place it under your camera
Drag the overlay to the top of the screen, right under the webcam, so you keep eye contact on the recording. On a MacBook with a notch (Apple Silicon, macOS 14 or later), Notch Bar mode puts the script right next to the camera.
4. Join the Riverside studio and record
Join as host or guest as usual. When you talk, ShareSpeak follows your voice; it only moves on words from your script, so it holds still while your guest talks. If you share your screen in Riverside, the overlay stays out of the shared screen as well.
When Riverside’s own teleprompter is enough
Pro isn’t just a teleprompter. If you’re already the host on Pro or above for Riverside’s recording quality and editing, and only you need a script, the built-in teleprompter covers it. ShareSpeak earns its place when:
- Your guests need a script and you’re not on Business.
- The teleprompter is the only reason you’d upgrade ($288 a year on Pro billed yearly vs $14.99 once).
- You want voice-following on Pro, or in another language: Riverside’s Follow voice needs Grow ($39 a month) and is English only.
- You record elsewhere too: Zoom, OBS or StreamYard use the same overlay.

Yes, on paid plans. As of October 2026, Riverside's Pro ($29 a month, or $24 billed yearly), Grow and Webinar plans include a teleprompter for the host only. Only the custom-priced Business plan gives the host and guests a teleprompter. On Pro it scrolls at a speed you set; Riverside's Follow voice mode needs Grow ($39 a month) or higher and supports English only. ShareSpeak works on any Riverside plan or trial, for hosts and guests, and follows your voice for $14.99 once.
Can guests use Riverside's teleprompter?
Only on the Business plan. On Pro, Grow and Webinar the teleprompter is host-only, so a guest joining your recording can't read from it. A guest can run ShareSpeak on their own laptop instead: it sits on their screen, stays out of the recording, and doesn't depend on the host's plan.
Will ShareSpeak appear in my Riverside recording?
No. Riverside records your webcam and microphone, and ShareSpeak lives on your screen, not in front of the camera. If you share your screen in Riverside, ShareSpeak is excluded from screen capture, so the shared screen stays clean too.
Do I need Riverside Pro to use a teleprompter?
